参考消息发布的《中国都会海外影响力分析陈诉》，深圳的都会海外影响力排名全国前三，成为海外新闻资讯类网站的重头报道对象。
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. Shenzhen was discussed by foreign media which spotlighted the citys development and achievements.
According to the Analysis Report on Overseas Influence of Chinese Cities (2020) released by Cankao Xiaoxi, Shenzhen ranked among the top three cities in China in terms of overseas influence and has remained a dominant feature on international news and information websites.

ON Dec. 17 the Cable News Network (CNN) dedicated a webpage to Shenzhen’s environmental innovations, decoding how Shenzhen could become “China’s most sustainable city” while sustaining rapid economic growth.

In the featured article titled “A Sustainable Path to Prosperity,” CNN cited the regeneration project of the Dasha River Ecological Corridor in Nanshan District as a striking example of the government’s determination to empower both ecological and financial development with technology and innovation. “Once deserted, the 8.5-mile-long greenway follows the pristine Dasha River, along which plants grow and flowers blossom as runners, cyclists and paddlers go by. Exotic birds land on the corridor, a never before seen occurrence,” the article says.

The vegetation along the river was carefully selected which is non-invasive to the native species and can help purify rainwater and city wastewater, Stone Shen, Vice-President of the Buildings + Places in AECOM China, was quoted as saying. AECOM is a global infrastructure firm behind the transformation of the Dasha River.

They allow people to exercise, be in nature, and have social interactions while keeping safely distant,” CNN says.

Shenzhen’s government policies and regulations are believed as the main reasons behind the city’s blue sky and clean air.

According to the article，the Shenzhen government has been working on transitioning the city’s economic model by replacing companies and manufacturers that do not meet environmental standards with green manufacturers and by supporting firms that focus on technological innovation.

Technology is another powerful method to reduce carbon emissions. “By implementing policies that reward low-emitters, Shenzhen is able to consistently nurture new designs and technologies, which in turn feed its environmental efforts,” the article says.

In the concluding part of the article, CNN says that a greener Shenzhen has gained worldwide recognition, particularly for its push for electric vehicles (EV) and introduction of a pilot green vehicle program. “It is also the first city in the world to have all its buses run on batteries, and its taxis and ride-hail vehicles will likely follow suit,” CNN says.

In an article published by The Reuters on Oct. 18, Shenzhen’s autonomy to pilot reforms in market reform and integration was highlighted. The article mentioned that President Xi called for Shenzhen to strengthen property rights and protection of entrepreneurs, and supported Shenzhen to pursue reforms and become a model city for a strong socialist country.

A report by La Vanguardia, one of the most prestigious media outlets in Spain, gives attention to Shenzhen’s technological development and the city’s efficient spirit. “In just four decades, marshes have given way to large avenues and futuristic skyscrapers - more than one hundred buildings exceed 200 meters in height. It is the first city in the world with a comprehensive deployment of 5G networks,” the article says. "Time is money, efficiency is life" is one of the mottos of this great city. With this philosophy, its economy has been able to grow at an annual rate of 22%; its GDP in 2018 exceeded US$ 370 billion, surpassing Hong Kong.”
